Our roots
England & Seattle
Henry’s story begins in Winterton-on-Sea, England. A life of travel and a Master of Arts in furniture design from London Guild Hall shape his approach to making.
Seattle-born Sara studies international business at the University of Puget Sound, followed by an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Together, their complementary skills become the foundation of a family business.
2009
San Francisco · Design Trifecta
In San Francisco’s Bayview district, Henry starts Design Trifecta: a one-man shop creating custom furniture and cabinetry. Design, prototyping and hands-on making all happen under one roof.
2014–15
A family business takes shape
360 Knife Block begins in 2014. Henry develops the designs; Sara leads sales, marketing, websites and press.
The original hourglass-shaped block launches on Kickstarter in 2015. Its flared base gives you a blade-free place to turn the block, keeping your knives visible and within reach.
2016–18
The idea finds its audience
A new ShopSabre CNC machine helps move production forward in 2016. Recognition from Cook’s Illustrated and America’s Test Kitchen brings the original design to more kitchens.
In 2018, Woodshop News features Design Trifecta’s approach to combining bespoke cabinetry with a growing product business.

2020
Meet the MAX
Taller sides, room for longer blades and extra storage on top. At 12 inches tall, the MAX brings the rotating design to larger knife collections and kitchen islands.
2022
Seabeck · Washington
The family moves north from San Francisco to Seabeck, Washington. Their barn becomes a workshop and small factory, where they design, prototype and make the next chapter together.
2023
Meet the 360KB
The 360KB arrives with a tapered shape and a 10-inch height, designed to fit beneath upper cabinets. It brings the same easy access to kitchens where every inch matters.
2024
The family grows
The BAR family takes the idea in a new direction: magnetic knife storage mounted on the wall. The BAR, BAR XL and compact HEX bring more ways to make space for the knives you love.
The next chapter
Always refining
Customer feedback continues to shape the details, including the MAX’s updated top-slot layout in 2025. The BAR earns recognition from America’s Test Kitchen, while Henry and Sara keep building the business together.
